The holiday season can be very overwhelming. Studying for finals, traveling to see loved ones, and dodging the crowds of shoppers can fill up your calendar and cause increased stress. With all this added on, it can be hard to prioritize staying healthy. Listed below are a few ways you can stay healthier during the holiday season.

  1. Wash hands regularly to prevent the spread of germs.

  1. Manage stress in a way that works for you.

  1. Give yourself grace and patience.

  1. Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.

  1. Stay mindful of road conditions and don’t drive if it is deemed unsafe.

  1. Prepare food safely and avoid cross-contamination.

  1. Bundle up in light, warm layers.

  1. Practice fire safety.

  1. Prioritize physical activity.

  1. Try to get enough sleep.

It is important to stay healthy both physically and mentally, as these two often go hand-in-hand. When managing stress, it is important to remember that what works for one person might not work for someone else. So, find what works best for you and make it a habit.

For more information and healthy living tips, check out the library’s Wellness Guide. I highly recommend the guide’s section on gratitude. You can also use the search feature on the library’s homepage to look up peer-reviewed articles on seasonal depression and how to prevent the spread of germs.
