What is the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002?

"An act to protect investors by improving the accuracy and reliability of corporate disclosures made pursuant to the securities laws, and for other purposes." This legislation, enacted in response to a series of corporate financial scandals, helps protect against fraud and maintains a standard of ethics and corporate responsibility.
