Despite its many advantages, secondary data is not without its drawbacks. Researchers must be acutely aware of these limitations to ensure the validity and reliability of their findings:

• Data quality issues
• Relevance / fit for purpose 
• Lack of control over data collection
• Potential for misinterpretation
• Documentation gaps
