Library Reserve
The library offers a service called Reserve, which allows faculty to place copyrighted material on hold or "reserve" for students of a specific class to read or view. Reserves may be placed physically in the library or added to a password protected e-reserve course guide on the library website.
Why should I choose Reserve? Placing an item on Reserve in the library or through the library website places the purpose and use of the item firmly in the hands of each student. Each student then makes the decision for their own personal, educational purposes to watch, read, or copy that item.
New Resource Highlight
5MinuteConsult
The library has added a new subscription to 5MinuteConsult, the database version of the 5-Minute Clinical Consult. From the vendor, “5MinuteConsult is a fully integrated digital resource to help guide primary care professionals and clinical students in daily decision support, based on the best-selling clinical content in the family medicine market for over 20 years, giving access to the information needed at the point-of-care.” You can find 5MinuteConsult in the Databases menu on the library website.
Did you know?
Copyright Guide
The library provides a Copyright Guide as a faculty reference guide. The guide includes information on Fair Use, the library’s Reserve service mentioned above, and copyright related to placing items in Canvas. As a for-profit institution, some of the educational exceptions in the US Code are not applicable to South College. The library guide includes recommendations for providing access to copyrighted materials to students without breaking copyright.
