Hyperdrive Your Courses: Hyperlinking to the Library’s Resources
The library uses OpenAthens authentication for off campus access to our resources. OpenAthens allows us to provide you with links to library subscription content that you can post directly in your Canvas courses for your students. While this is primarily done with videos and ebooks added for specific courses, just about any library resource can be linked in Canvas. Join Jonathon Hudson, our Electronic Resources Librarian, for an in-service on linking to library resources from your Canvas courses on April 14th at 10:30am EST. Unable to attend live? The recording will be provided to all registrants.
Resource Highlight
PubMed & Discover Integration
The library is pleased to announce that the Discover integration with PubMed is finally back in action. The update to PubMed in 2020 and changes in access controls forced us to turn off PubMed-Discover record integration for longer than we had hoped. As of late March, a new setup is now in place. Faculty and students can search PubMed and connect to the library’s Discover Search to check for library-provided full text by accessing PubMed from the library website or bookmarking this URL: https://library.south.edu/PubMed

Library Orientation Completion Certificates
Do you assign the library orientation to your students? Each library orientation course now includes a Completion Certificate at the end that students can download and print, email, or upload to Canvas. The certificate shows the student’s name and the date they completed the Library Orientation, see the attachment for an example. Students must complete all orientation modules and quizzes before they are able to access the certificate.
